Seward Named One of Nebraska's Safest Cities


Safewise.com reviewed the most recent FBI Crime statistics for Nebraska and came up with the top ten safest communities. Cities with populations over 3,000 who submitted full reports to the FBI were considered; communities with partial FBI data were not considered. Violent crimes, such as murder, aggravated assault, robbery and forcible rape, and property crimes, which consist of burglary, motor vehicle theft, arson, and larceny-theft, were considered in the ranking. Calculations were made using crimes per 1,000 people to ensure a level playing field. The cities making the list include first place O’Neill, Auburn, Cozad, Falls City, Aurora, Wahoo, seventh-ranked Seward, Sidney, Blair and Gering.
